Response Rates
- Since Vizu Answers does not offer artificial incentives, response rates to question can vary dramatically based on the audience and the intrinsic interest in the question.
- Vizu recommends a target of 200 votes per poll for most purposes.
Answer Accuracy
Assuming sound methodology, the likelihood that your poll represents the true sentiment of the population that you have sampled is measured by two key statistics: Margin of Error and Confidence Level.
For example, if Answer X is selected 50% of the time in a poll that has a margin of error of 4% with a 95% confidence level, that means that if you conducted that poll 100 times Answer X would be selected between 46% and 54% of the time in 95 of the 100 polls.
Polls have a standard margin of error at a given confidence level depending on the number of respondents. The more respondents, the narrower the margin of error at a given confidence level. That said, there are strongly diminishing returns to adding more votes as indicated in the following chart:
Limitations
- Best suited for opinion oriented information
- Does not support multi-question surveys, though multiple polls may be fielded simultaneously
- Respondents remain anonymous
- While the demographics and psychographics of each poll's audience can be anticipated, they cannot be confirmed for individual participants.
- Respondents from within the target audience might not be truly random and subject to a self-selection bias
- Results from individual poll questions cannot be used to cross-tabulate results from other questions
